As Director of Music for the The North Parish of North Andover from 1986-1996, Matt was deeply involved with the release of this recording. Recorded in the church sanctuary of this 350 year old church (how many churches can say THAT!), many of the selections were either arranged, accompanied or directed by Matt.
The featured musicians were drawn from the bounty of musical talent that existed within the congregation.
The musical selections are from the standard Holiday fare. Matt plays a solo piano rendition of
“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” on the disc as well.
Many different musical groups performed the arrangements, including: Adult Vocal Choir, Children's Choir,
Vocal Ensemble(s), Adult Handbell Choir & Youth Handbell Choirs, plus several soloists.
There’s an eclectic mixture of styles presented: Have you ever heard a Cajun version of “What Child Is This”
or a jazz trio play J.S. Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”?
The final track features the entire congregation singing a medley of carols Matt arranged & accompanied.
